The Senate Beginning or last Scrooge

Everyone must write those Senators that were just re-elected and tell them to just pass the bill that will keep a lot of people in their homes; keep folks from starving this winter or freezing to death for a total lack of money after hanging on with depleting reserve funds and limited unemployment income both of which are now gone. Tell as many of them as possible. Go postal. A big bag of letters carries more weight. It takes time to sort the constituents from the rest of us. It is generally judged by volume.

Then when they come back, they must get a real, down home jobs bill passed. As for me, I’m for new CCC type programs. If you will show up for work you have a job.
Some of my ideas:

Locally, here in Philadelphia restore the old trails that ran up and down the hillsides of Wissahickon Valley from the Schuykill to the city limits. When I was a scout, it was the Northern most part of the largest city park in the world. It may still be. We could walk from one end to the other along the upper part of both hillsides, walking along clear carved out trails with wooden bridges over the ravines. Our troop hiked the valley up one side, cooked lunch at the terminus and hiked back down the other. A troop project to meet Kennedy’s 50 mile-one day challenge. The trails were built be a federal program during the depression. The project provided a simple day’s work for labor, operations and basic management, all local. Then folks enjoyed working again and were happy know that their time was valued.

Put adults on street corners around schools during the day. A simple structure with a great view for when the kids are in school. Seating and surfaces on which four folks can hang out.

The Senate has been the bottleneck for the last two years. Nearly double the Republican filibusters than during the last four years. Now they all must sit down together and figure out how to give us work out here in the real world. Basic simple work, as before. No willing worker left behind.

A lot of ability and energy is sitting frustrated. Many folks are watching their world collapse. Myself, I’m working a short week. This requires that my wife and I have been spending our retirement funds, for several years now, to make up the difference.

Let us have some positive politics in the Senate, please ! Reasonable behavior is long overdue.

More negativity from Toomey

If only political ads where vetted to only include information about why one should vote for a candidate they would be far more civil and voters would be better informed.  I just saw the Toomey ad with Ed Feege of Hellertown.  Ed claims to be a lifelong Democrat who supports Toomey.

Ed refers to Medicare cuts in the Health Care bill and blames Sestak.  I doubt if Ed Feege really has any idea what is in the bill.

There is a lot of good stuff in the bill. RE: Drug companies will have to provide names and payment amounts for doctor’s that shill for them doing things like taking money to use their names as authors of articles that they did not write that were written by drug company ad agencies.  The biggest Medicare cuts in the bill are from the dramatically improved fraud control.  Health care companies will no longer be able to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions which, by the way includes pregnancy.  Kids are covered until age 26 when college graduates, like my daughter, can’t find jobs, let alone get health care coverage.

I suspect that Ed Feege, unlike most of us working class folks, may have a sizable income from Wall Street so Pat’s his boy.  If you agree that Ed is wrong, call him at 1-610-838-8405 and let him know that he would be better to tells us why he is voting for Toomey.  He might just have to disclose his self interest.
